One accent color in a quiet room
Practice one accent color in a quiet room. Four steps, a result check, and the free Quiet Corner color palette for Procreate.

An accent works through scarcity. Make a room scene in neutrals and decide exactly where the viewer should look before introducing orange.
Set up your study
Download the Quiet Corner palette below, or copy its six hex colors. Use a comfortable sketch canvas and a familiar brush; no premium brush is required. The featured illustration is a visual starting point, not a result you need to copy exactly.
Try it in four steps
- Block in a wall, floor and chair using the three lightest neutrals.
- Add the chair’s shadow and legs in the two darker colors. Keep the largest shapes simple.
- Use rust orange on one small cushion or book. Do not repeat it elsewhere yet.
- Make a second version with orange added to several objects. Compare the first place your eye lands.
Check your result
If the accent disappears, its neighboring value may be too similar. Adjust the neighboring neutral before making the orange brighter.
Change one thing
Move the accent from the chair to a tiny object near the edge and rebalance the composition.
